Chateau Tongariro

Itinerary  

DAY 1: ROTORUA.
We meet in the afternoon in the spa city of Rotorua.

DAY 2 TAUPO.
We now head for Lake Taupo of trout fishing fame, with a visit to the dramatic Huka Falls a must.

DAY 3 and 4 TONGARIRO.
The three volcanoes, Tongariro, Ngauruhoe and Ruapehu are the dramatic features of Tongariro National Park. Here we relax in style and comfort at the Grand Chateau.

DAY 5 PIO PIO.
We wind our way down to King Country, known for sheep farms and limestone formations, for a farmstay.

DAY 6 WAITOMO.
Our hosts will show us a little of their lifestyle and then it is a short, easy ride to the old world charm of Waitomo Caves.

DAY 7 and 8 AUCKLAND.
A visit to the world famous caves is a must, with the option of blackwater rafting for the more daring. We follow delightful quiet country roads to Te Awamutu from where we drive back to Auckland.
